I'm not African but my Dad's nickname was Black George. It was probably just because he was Polish in the 1940's. I don't know what it's like to be African but I hope I'm not being insensitive by using terms like 'spiritual darkness'. Darkness in this context has a totally different meaning to that of dark skin. In fact, skin color should never be associated with virtue.
Spiritual darkness is more closely related to the darkness of a moonless night. It's a darkness that covers things and hides them from view. But look how Hendrix shone with his celestial talent.
